Our Mission Statement
We live in a modern society, whose development is characterized by a drive towards constant improvement. The basis for this progression is an ever more advanced knowledge society. In this context, innovations in the field of process management are particularly important. As an independent and renowned scientific institute, we have specialized in generating decisive findings in this area, and contributing them to the further development of the healthcare system.
In doing so, we bring together knowledge in the form of extensive data and superior professional aptitude. We formulate ambitious goals and develop new methods, in order to ultimately achieve results that enable us to provide a better future for patient care. The BQS Institute for Quality and Patient Safety supports the socially oriented values of health policy in Germany to a large extent. The Institute stands for more transparency, understanding, and for more patient-centeredness within future healthcare provision.

Competencies
The BQS Institute is an independent, privately owned scientific research institute. It specializes in particular in the presentation of care quality on behalf of various partners in the health care system. It combines the scientifically based development of quality indicators with practical implementation approaches for individual projects.
BQS' expertise is based on a combination of outstanding competency in the fields of:
- Health care research and methodological development of quality assurance procedures
- Scientific evaluation of quality guidelines, care models and digital technologies
- Scientific and technological development, implementation and support/consulting of registry technologies and trust centers as well as complex databases according to the BQS Registry Life Cycle
- Development and implementation of comprehensive/multi-year follow-up surveys (Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs))
- Development partner of the renowned Picker Institute Europe (Oxford) in the field of patient-centered surveys (Patient Reported Experience Measures - PREMs) and analyses according to the Patient Centered Care Model
At the same time, BQS brings extensive experience in the practical implementation of nationwide projects to future collaborations.
The BQS Institute is a scientific institute that innovatively develops the methodology of quality measurement and presentation. At the same time, it sees itself as a competent, customer-oriented service institution that serves its clients as a bridge to the practice of health care, and as an effective support in decision-making. The impartiality of the BQS Institute, both in terms of its professional independence and with regard to the implementation of projects in the healthcare sector, plays a central role. In order to benefit from professional exchange and to be involved in current health policy as well as scientific discussions at the highest levels, the BQS Institute works with renowned institutions of the health care system via various collaborations, both nationally and internationally. The BQS Institute also has many years of experience in working with public clients, both at the federal and state level, and is therefore able to convey the findings from projects in a way that is appropriate for the target group, while taking specific political environments into account.
The BQS Institute is involved in a variety of different projects. These require the use of different qualitative and quantitative methods and agree different emphases. In consultation with the client, the BQS Institute selects the appropriate mix of methods to investigate the underlying issue. Projects include evaluations (e.g. of guidelines), scientific projects and analyses (e.g. in the context of accompanying research), quality assurance of service providers (e.g. in the field of inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation), scientific expert reports, quality comparisons and benchmarking in the hospital sector, health reports, register studies and others.
Depending on the project topic, the BQS Institute cooperates with renowned external experts from science and research in order to be able to contribute the greatest possible expertise in the respective subject area.
