Project hospital: Krankenhaus Rummelsberg (member of the Sana Group)
Prior to the introduction of the Rummelsberg Cross-Sectional Center (QZR), Rummelsberg Hospital already had departments headed by chief physicians (among others) for spinal surgery, neurology, neuroorthopedics, intensive care medicine and traumatology. These departments were to be important interfaces to the future center, and in parts even part of the QZR.
The chief physicians responsible in each case were therefore the nucleus for the conceptual considerations for the new center and were the first to be involved in the management's planning to establish the 28th center for paraplegics in Germany. The chief physicians agreed that the chief physician for spinal surgery would become the "business angel" for the "start-up" spinal cord center. This decision was based on the realization that the establishment of a new medical department must be supported, sustained and protected (against interests of other senior physicians) by a responsible physician.
The basic treatment concept of the QZR is the interdisciplinary cooperation of all professional groups involved in the treatment process: Physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, social workers, orthopedic technicians.
